Our Ingredients- Lavender Essential Oil

Every ingredient we use has been chosen for its fantastic botanical and skin loving properties. Lavender is no exception.
Lavender flowers

Lavender essential oil is made by distilling the lavender flowers of certain species to produce a clear, water insoluble oil which is what we use to produce our products

It is widely used for its soothing and calming effects to both skin and mind- perfect for those of you who might be in need of TLC and relaxation. Lavender essential oil is a very versatile oil with anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and relaxing properties which all help to make lavender oil one of our favourite ingredients to use as it is believed to aid in regeneration and rejuvenation of skin cells.

Because of the amazing properties in Lavender oil we have made sure they are in a selection of our products including Raw Concentrate Skin Serum & Repair & Revive Body Butter. So if you need a bit of TLC or some calming skin treats- look no further than these beauties.

Oil & Skincare

Over the psst decade, possibly more, "oil-free skincare" advertisement has been all over our tv screens, magazines  and radio stations. It is usually in products that are made specifically for those with oily skin- because who wants to add extra oil to their skin if they have oily skin right? Wrong.

Oil and your skin love each other, very, very much! By using products that are drying (and remove your natural oil) your body will work extra hard to produce more to help keep your skin moisturised. Now obviously no one wants oily skin, so how do you get rid of the oil without producing more oil? Add oil!! It's sounds all confusing and sounds like a down right lie, but it's not. One of the basic rules in chemistry is that like dissolves like. You wouldn't use water to dissolve oil or vice versa, but you would use water to dissolve water, and oil for oil. The same principal applies to you skin, if you use oil on your skin, it will help remove excess oil by dissolving/ emulsifying it.

Many people have become scared of using facial oils because of the idea that you shouldn't use oil on oily skin, but oils are actually wonderful for your skin and your skin will love you for using it. The amount of excess sebum you produce will eventually decrease and you will be left with much less oily and shiny skin.

Why not try out our 100% natural skin serum, packed full of skin loving oils that will help to nourish and protect your skin!

I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts.

When thinking about coconuts I instantly imagine myself laying on a beach in some exotic country with a scrumptious pinacolada in hand. The smell & taste is one of my favourites! Most people when thinking of coconut probably don't imagine themselves rubbing it all over their bodies! Please let me know if this actually you!

Coconuts not only provide us with fantastic foods and beverages, but they also provide us with a gorgeous oil. Not only does this oil smell amazing, it also has some of the most amazing skincare properties that will leave your skin feeling super soft and hydrated.

Coconut oil is a solid oil at room temperature but melts on contact with skin

We use coconut oil in a large proportion of our skincare including our body butters, skin serum and lip balms. It provides amazing nourishment and moisturisation leaving your skin feeling soft, supple and smooth. Which is why it is apparent in a large number of products that we produce.

Coconut oil is not only a fantastic natural skincare ingredient for providing soft gorgeous skin, it also has a natural SPF which is always a bonus!

Our Ingredients- Shea Butter

Each Ingredient we select to go into to any of our products has to be a super ingredient. It has to have some proven reason as to why we think it is great for your skin. As we supply 100% natural skincare, we do not genetically modify our ingredients to out perform their natural counterpart, we do not use ingredients that have beenextracted, then processed, then extracted again and magically turned into something that is as far from its original state as possible. That is why we are very selective over what we do and do not include in our products.

So how did Shea butter get in to our ingredients super list I hear you ask?

Shea Butter is extracted from the nut of the Karite Tree. It is a natural fat that is rich in Vitamin A which is used widely in the cosmetic industry in anti-aging products, as it aids the skin in maintaining a youthful and healthy look. It also contains oleic acid which is a fatty acid, which provides moisturisation to the skin. It also contains compounds which act as a natural UVB ray protection.
Raw, Unrefined Shea Butter

We use Shea butter in a number of our products including our Hydrasculpt body butter, Repair & Revive Body butter, Rescue Me lip balm and more!

Back To School- Glowing Skin.

If you are one of the lucky one's who is heading back to school soon you will probably be thinking about how you are going to have your hair, what you are going to be doing about your make-up and of course, how your skin is looking!

If you have the odd pimple that has decided to make an appearance, just to spite you on your first day back, not to worry!! We have 5 simple steps to follow to get beautiful looking skin for your first day back.

1. Drink plenty of water!
Drinking water is going to help flush your system of toxins that build up and can contribute to the cause of spots. By drinking 2ltrs of water a day you will be aiding cell renewal, removing the built up toxins in your body which will hopefully help clear your skin as well as making you look and feel better.

2. Avoid junk food!
When we eat junk food, your body will try to break it down to use as much of the nutrients as possible, it will then do it's best to flush out anything toxic left behind and in some instances, this can cause breakouts to occur. Try eating healthy fats like Avocado, nuts & fish. These are all packed with wonderful omega oils that will help the skin & hair to look beautifully healthy.

3. Work-out
When you exercise there is an increase in blood flow to the surface of your skin, with this it brings oxygen and nutrients along which is greatly beneficial to keeping your skin looking and feeling healthy. Sweat is made up mostly of water, however, it also contains small amounts of urea, salts & sugar which means it is flushing impurities away from your skin.

4. Beauty Sleep
Sleep is vital to maintaining clear, fresh looking skin. When you sleep, your body is recharging & repairing itself. You need to allow it time to do so. Try & get in at least 8 hours & take time before bed to relax. With technology at our finger tips, it is easy to reach for your phone, iPad, laptop etc, instead read a book or listen to some music that will help your drift off calmly & peacefully.

5. Detoxify & Pamper your skin
Remember, your skin is the largest organ you have, so it is important to nourish & protect it. Use a detoxifying Little Muddies Face Mask, followed by Raw Concentrate Skin Serum before bed. This will remove toxins & impurities from your skin & nourish and hydrate throughout the night. You will wake up feeling like you have just had a million dollar facial. Plus is is all 100% natural so no nasty chemicals!

I hope you all have a great school year, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Much Love.

My Dark Little Secret

The title of this post may have enticed you and so it should. My dark secret could soon be yours too!

So I guess I should tell you what my dark little secret is huh? Dark Chocolate! YUM!! Not only is dark chocolate actually good for you but if you have a massive sweet tooth like myself this will be a brilliant little secret for you.

Dark chocolate contains a compounds called flavonoid, these are plant-based compounds with powerful antioxidant properties, which means they help reduce inflammation, promote healthy arteries and help fight aging by preventing and repairing cellular damage, all of which is fantastic for your skin and over all health!

So what chocolate should you choose? If you are going to eat dark chocolate for its amazing health benefits make sure you are eating one that contains 70% cocoa content or higher as this will have the most beneficial properties. Avoid white or milk chocolate as this will contain a greater amount of sugar, milk, fat and butter along with other ingredients that are added to chocolate to give it, its distinctive flavour.

Remember to eat your chocolate in combination with a healthy balanced diet and enjoy!
